“China Prospects Forum: Directors’ Roundtable” Wednesday, June 2, 2010, New York City
(PRWEB) May 13, 2010 -- China Business Knowledge (CBK) will host its third "China Prospects Forum" breakfast series on June, 2, in New York City. This month's program will address opportunities for U.S. executives to serve on the boards of China-based companies trading on the NYSE, Nasdaq, Amex and OTC BB.
“Nearly 500 China-based middle-market companies are listed on the U.S. capital markets, entering the market on the OTC BB via reverse mergers,” says China Business Knowledge publisher, Janet Stites. “Once they meet the criteria, they move up to the major markets. To get a foothold in the global market, and to assuage investor concerns about compliance, they often appoint U.S. executives as independent board members.” Stites notes that the companies are particularly interested in finding people to sit on, or Chair, Audit & Compensation Committees.
Topics for the roundtable include, accessing and evaluating opportunities, logistics of serving, compensation practices, considering D&O insurance, navigating language and cultural issues. Panelists include: Timothy F. Driscoll, President, MTD Ventures LLC, Director, China Recycling Energy Group (Nasdaq: CREG); Robert B. Fields, Director China Green Agriculture (NYSE: CGA) & SkyPeople Fruit Juice (Nasdaq: SPU), Audit & Compensation Committee; Alexandra Lajoux, Chief Knowledge Officer, National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD); Lawrence W. Leighton, Managing Director, Bentley Associates L.P., Director, China XD Plastics (Nasdaq: CXDC), China Natural Gas (Nasdaq: CHNG); Kevin Sullivan, Managing Director, D&O Specialist, AON; Terence Yap, CFO & Vice Chairman, China Security & Surveillance Technology Inc. (NYSE: CSR) (BIO).
"These companies are not just penny China-stocks," Stites says. "Most are middle-market companies with solid revenue streams and distribution channels. They are positioned to be China's `blue chip' stocks for the long term as privatization evolves, the middle-class continues to grow and China's foray into the global capital markets matures."
Who Should Come: Anyone interested in learning more about board positions for Chinese companies trading on the U.S. capital markets and learning about the market in general, including: Individual Investors, Fund Managers, Venture Capitalists, Private Equity Executives, Hedge Fund Managers, Executives from Chinese companies wanting to network, Professional Services Providers, and Executives from all industries interested in working in this sector.
The event is sponsored by "Beyond the Bottom Line."
